In a rapid, complicated production environment, the assignment system must decide the time to send the WIP into the machine and choose the next station for the highest production efficiency.
In a looped production process, WIP passes through the same work station back and forth, and performs different processes at the same type of the machine. As the result, an arrangement going back and forth will be formed. The relationship between pre and post processes are complicated. If an error occurs during dispatch, the production route will be jammed. WIPs at a station will be stacked up. This station will become a bottleneck site on the production line.
Therefore, scheduling and dispatch must be performed after considering the relationship between pre and post processes when making decisions about dispatch. While the data volume grows exponentially, data processing becomes a big problem. That’s when AI algorithm comes in, which has learning ability and supercomputing capacity.
